CHRONIC PAIN & JOINT RELIEF TREATMENTS

Targeted Pain Relief for Arthritis & Joint Inflammation in Kaysville, UT

If chronic joint pain is interfering with your daily activities, a Joint Injection may provide the lasting relief you need. This minimally invasive procedure reduces inflammation and pain in joints affected by conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other degenerative disorders.

At Lifespring Pain Management Center, we offer advanced, image-guided joint injections to help patients regain mobility, improve function, and enjoy a better quality of life—without the need for surgery.

WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW

What Is a Joint Injection?

A joint injection involves delivering a corticosteroid (anti-inflammatory) solution—often combined with a local anesthetic—directly into the affected joint space.

The goal is to reduce inflammation, ease pain, and restore range of motion in commonly affected areas such as the:

  • Knee
  • Shoulder
  • Hip
  • Ankle
  • Elbow
  • Wrist
  • Small joints in the hands and feet

These injections are most commonly recommended for individuals with:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Bursitis or tendinitis
  • Joint degeneration due to overuse or injury
What to Expect During the Procedure

Preparation

The skin over the treatment area is cleansed and prepped. A local anesthetic is applied to numb the surface and reduce discomfort.

Needle Placement

A thin needle is inserted into the joint space. Injections into the hip or shoulder may require ultrasound or X-ray (fluoroscopic) guidance for accurate placement.

Medication Injection

A corticosteroid solution is injected into the joint to reduce inflammation and block pain signals. The procedure typically takes just a few minutes.

Post-Procedure Monitoring

Most patients are observed briefly and then released to go home the same day.

After the Procedure
  • Immediate pain relief is often felt due to the numbing effect of the anesthetic
  • Mild pain may return once the anesthetic wears off—but further improvement occurs within 2–5 days as the steroid takes effect

Patients will receive aftercare instructions, including:

  • Avoiding strenuous activity for 24–48 hours
  • Avoiding baths or soaking the injection site for 2–3 days
  • Reporting signs of infection (fever, redness, swelling, or worsening pain)

Pain relief may last 6 to 12 months, depending on the joint and the severity of your condition.

Benefits of Joint Injections
  • Fast, targeted pain relief
  • Reduces inflammation and swelling
  • Improves joint function and range of motion
  • Avoids or delays the need for surgery
  • Can be repeated safely when needed
