CHRONIC PAIN & JOINT RELIEF TREATMENTS

Targeted Pain Relief in Kaysville, UT

If you’re struggling with persistent pain that hasn’t responded to medication or conservative treatments, a nerve block may offer the relief you need. At Lifespring Pain Management Center, we use advanced diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks to accurately pinpoint pain sources and provide effective, long-lasting relief.

WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW

What Is a Nerve Block?

A nerve block is an injection of anesthetic—and sometimes anti-inflammatory medication—around a specific nerve or group of nerves. The goal is to temporarily “block” the pain signals traveling to the brain.

Nerve blocks are incredibly versatile and may be used to:

  • Diagnose the source of pain
  • Treat or manage chronic and acute pain
  • Predict how a patient will respond to longer-term treatments
  • Provide short-term relief after surgery or injury
Conditions Treated with Nerve Blocks
  • Chronic back and neck pain
  • Joint pain
  • Post-surgical pain
  • Sciatica
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
  • Cancer-related pain
  • Headaches and facial pain
  • Peripheral nerve injuries
What to Expect During the Procedure

Assessment & Planning

Your provider will identify the affected nerve(s) and determine the best injection site using physical exam findings and imaging.

Injection Preparation

The skin is sterilized and numbed with a local anesthetic to ensure comfort.

Guided Placement

Using ultrasound or fluoroscopic imaging, your provider carefully places a thin needle near the target nerve.

Medication Delivery

A combination of anesthetic (and sometimes steroids) is injected to block the pain signals. The entire process usually takes just a few minutes.

After the Procedure
  • Pain relief may be immediate or develop over the next several days
  • Relief can last several days to several months, depending on your condition
  • Patients can usually return home the same day, but may need a ride if sedation is used
  • Your provider will give customized post-procedure instructions, including activity and medication guidelines

Nerve blocks can be repeated as needed for chronic pain, with some patients experiencing relief for up to 12 months.
