BACK & SPINE PAIN TREATMENTS

Long-Term Relief for Sacroiliac Joint Pain in Kaysville, UT

If you’ve been living with persistent pain in your lower back, hips, or pelvis—and conservative treatments haven’t helped—SI Joint Fusion may be the long-term solution you've been searching for.

At Lifespring Pain Management Center, we offer minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusion for patients whose chronic SI joint dysfunction has not responded to steroid injections, physical therapy, or other non-surgical options. Our goal is to help you move confidently, sleep comfortably, and return to the life you love—without constant pain.

WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW

What Is SI Joint Fusion?

The sacroiliac (SI) joints are located where the spine meets the pelvis. When these joints become inflamed or unstable—due to trauma, prior spinal surgery, childbirth, or degenerative changes—they can cause ongoing pain in the lower back, hips, buttocks, or legs.

SI Joint Fusion is a surgical procedure in which the joint is stabilized by implanting small devices or bone grafts to promote fusion and prevent abnormal joint movement. This reduces inflammation, improves alignment, and relieves pain at its source.

Who Is a Candidate?

Before recommending fusion, our specialists will:

  • Perform a thorough physical examination
  • Review your medical history
  • Use diagnostic tools like X-ray or MRI
  • Confirm the SI joint as the pain source with a diagnostic injection

You may be a candidate for SI joint fusion if:

  • You’ve tried and not responded to conservative treatments (e.g. injections, physical therapy)
  • You’ve experienced trauma, had a previous spine fusion, or suffer from postpartum SI pain
  • You have chronic lower back or pelvic pain that limits your quality of life
What to Expect During the Procedure
  • Performed under conscious sedation or general anesthesia
  • A small incision is made near the affected SI joint
  • Special surgical instruments and implants are used to stabilize the joint and promote bone growth
  • Procedure usually takes under an hour
  • Typically performed as an outpatient or short-stay procedure
Recovery & Results
  • Mild soreness at the incision site is normal
  • Most patients resume light activities within 1–2 weeks
  • Full recovery and joint fusion occur over several months
  • You’ll be advised to avoid heavy lifting or high-impact movement during recovery
  • Pain relief is typically noticeable within weeks and continues to improve over time

Your provider may recommend physical therapy and/or a back brace as part of your recovery plan.

Benefits of SI Joint Fusion
  • Provides long-term pain relief
  • Improves stability and function in the lower back and pelvis
  • May reduce or eliminate the need for ongoing injections or medications
  • Minimally invasive with small incisions and low risk
  • Helps restore quality of life and daily mobility
